I Corinthians 15:53-57 Family Worship Guide

Family Worship Guide

You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up.

Deuteronomy 6:7

Scripture: I Cor 15:53-57: For this perishable must put on the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 But when this perishable will have put on the imperishable, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then will come about the saying that is written, “Death is swallowed up in victory. 55 O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” 56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law; 57 but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Main Thoughts: Death is a grim reality in this fallen world that we live in. But death doesn’t have to scare us or cause us to worry. For the follower of Jesus, we have great hope in this life and in the next.

Questions To Discuss: Are you afraid of death? If so, what are the reasons? What does this passage above tell us about death? How can you come free of your fear of death?

Main Things To Pray For Each Other: Pray that we will all assess our lives to make sure we have placed our faith in Jesus. Ask God to give us a deep joy and gratitude for the sacrifice of Christ that made it possible for us to not fear death.

Suggested Prayer: God, we worship You for Your goodness in our lives. We thank You for loving us enough to send Jesus to this earth to die for us so that, by placing our faith in You, we could be forgiven. We can rest in the truth that death and the grave don’t have the victory over us. Please help us to tell others this great news!
