Scripture: Matthew 5:14-16: “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; 15 nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
Main Thoughts: God’s people are to display God’s light in this world of darkness in which we live. It should be apparent that there is a difference in our lives compared to those to don’t know God and who walk in darkness. Our conduct in speech, action, and witness should show the love and grace of God to the world.
Questions To Discuss: What are some ways that you can be light in this world? Who do you know that needs the light of the gospel?
Main Things To Pray For Each Other: Pray for eyes that will see needs and feet that will run to help those in need. Pray that God would help us to display His glory and His light to the world around us. Pray that we will stay close to Christ as we live in this dark world.
Suggested Prayer: God, thank You for the light that You have brought into my life. I pray that I will be a good example of who You are to the world around me. Please help the light of Your grace and love to shine through me as I live my life in this world. Help me to love You before anything or anyone else.
