Matthew 25:34-40 Family Worship Guide

Family Worship Guide

You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up.

Deuteronomy 6:7

Scripture: Matthew 25:34-40: “Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 35 For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; 36 naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.’ 37 Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink? 38 And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? 39 When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ 40 The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’

Main Thoughts: Loving others who could never repay us is a Christ-honoring thing. What we do to “the least of these” is remembered and cheered on by our Lord. Serving others in the name of Jesus is liking serving Christ Himself.

Questions To Discuss: Do I know anyone who needs help? Do I know anyone who could use encouragement? How would God have me serve and love them? How can we as a family intentionally look for opportunities to serve others?

Main Things To Pray For Each Other: Pray for open eyes and hearts to see the needs around us. Pray for God to give us compassion on others. Pray that we will understand the point behind serving others….loving God, loving people, and sharing Christ with others.

Suggested Prayer: God, help us to see needs and have compassion. Lord, we pray that we will recognize Your love for others and that we will seek to love others out of our love for You. May the world know that we are Your disciples as we love one another in the name of Jesus.
